Swimmers benefit from access to clean water and air in swimming pool settings.  However, swimmers are largely responsible for introduction of compounds that represent pool water contaminants and that react with pool chemicals (especially chlorine) to generate disinfection byproducts (DBPs).  And since many DBPs are volatile, these compounds can affect both water and air quality.  This presentation will include a summary of the background of this problem, potential remedial measures and their consequences, and possible steps forward to improve the swimming pool environment.
